Even after the recession and the covid lockdown and its later effect has not affected placement of National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (NIT Jamshedpur) with more than 400 students received job offers out of the 500 students. For the batch of 2017-21, More than Eighty percent students have been placed and expect numbers to increase in near future.
As per the report published in Telegraph, More than 80 companies visited NIT Jamshedpur visited for recruiting student from various Engineering streams. 50 more companies are expected to turn up for recruitment of students from different branches till July when the placements would end. As per data available from Training & Placement Cell, 81% Students of 2017-21 batch received job offers till now.
After the Covid break, the placement started via online mode for 2017-21 batch. The placement started in July but gained pace in october. This is the first time when companies are recruiting students via online mode. Its new experience for college as well as the company. College as well as students got adjusted to new method very soon and even it has shown positive results till now.
As per the stats published in the recent newspaper, More than 95 percent of the student from Computer Science and Engineering have been placed till now. While 92 percent students from Electronics and Communication Engineering have received job offers till now. 75 percent students from Electrical and Mechanical Engineering have been placed till now. The no. is pretty less for rest branches with 60 percent of student from civil Engineering received job offers while 77 percent student from production and Industrial branch received job offers till now.
Prahlad Prasad, Training and Placement professor-in-charge said that the placement is encouraging, “The placement scenario looks encouraging so far. The placement target for the current batch may be as good as previous years or even more”.
For the 2017-21 batch, Amazon gave the highest package of Rs. 30 Lakh per annum. While the average package has gone up to 12 lakhs per annum. The Students from Computer Science and Engineering received an average package of 18 lakhs per annum which is higher than most of the top NITs and even few IITs.
Apart from e-commerce major Amazon, some of the companies that have already participated in the online recruitment process are Deloitte, Tata Power, Axis Bank, Vedanta, Bajaj Auto, Nokia, Comviva, TCS Innovator, Paytm, Genpact, Goldman Sachs, Lowe’s India, One Plus, Cargil, Tekion, Tata Steel, Mentor Graphics, Publicis Sapient, Info Edge, Samsung (R&D), Bajaj, DMI Finance, Axeela, ZS Associates, Amdocs and Capgemini.
The previous batch (2016-2020) had secured 92.11 per cent placements with an average CTC of Rs 8.71 lakh per annum While this year the average package is 12 Lakhs per annum and 81 percent placement till now. Percentage placement for 2017-21 is expected to cross last year mark with many companies to visit in few days.
