NIT Jamshedpur alumni Saurabh Vishnu aka Sam’s film ‘Tailing Pond’ has been nominated for an Oscar in the category of short film. A letter has also been sent to Sam from Kete Cases to attend the ’93rd Academy Awards’, the film industry’s biggest honor to be held on 25 April 2021.
Sam in an interview with news reporter said that “The tailing pound is a 40-minute short film, which is basically based on the lifestyle of the people living in the rural area of Jaduguda. Apart from Jadugodh, the film has also been shot in New York. This film has received nearly 50 awards in India. Apart from this, awards have also been received in 25 Film Fair in New York. Said Sam: It is a great pleasure for me to be nominated for this film at the Oscars”
Since this film has already aired internationally, it will obviously increase the value of my city and Jharkhand.
Saurabh completed Engineering from NIT JAMSHEDPUR
Seeing the plight of the people in Jadugoda, the idea of making a film came: Sam told that he has done his intermediate studies from Rajendra Vidyalaya in Sakchi While He completed his graduation in computer engineering from NIT Jamshedpur. He then moved to New York for further studies. After completing studies, did business. Since schooling has also taken place in the city, I am aware of Jamshedpur and nearby places.
After returning to the city, we came to know about Jadugoda, because Papa was posted in Jadugodha police station. I was very sad to see the plight of people in Jaduguda. I had discussed this in New York as well. At the same time, I thought of making a film.
Sam told that the producer of Tailing Pound is his younger brother Anurag Tiwari. Anurag has also studied from Rajendra Vidyalaya. He later completed his medical studies from New York. Anurag and Sam consider their father as their ideal.
